Fireside Chats: Filmmaker Richard Lowenstein

Local St Kilda boy made good (you’ve gotta love them, right?) sits down with St Kilda Film Festival Director, Richard Sowada, for a fireside chat to stoke conversation around his long career in the screen industry.

From making music clips for monster local and international artists as U2, Hunters and Collectors (the classic clip Talking to a Stranger), The Church, Crowded House, and many, many clips for INXS, to one of Australia’s most legendary post punk features, Dogs in Space, there’s a lot to unpack.

Aside from the rock and roll underpinning, we’ll also explore some deeper politics seen in his first short film, Evictions and first feature, Strikebound, (both screening during the festival) and where those themes sit in his work overall.

Grab a glass of wine or beer and join us for an intimate 30-minute In Conversation with Richard in the Alex Theatre Lounge as we discuss his inspirations, career trajectory, challenges, triumphs and hopes.
