Practical SPFX: Makeup & Prosthetics

As part of our on set special effects, production and craft workshops today that embrace the use of firearms, workflows, intimacy and camera, we're proud to present a special session looking at the amazing art behind on set makeup and prosthetics.

Hosted by renowned local makeup artist Liz Mason, in this hands-on workshop you’ll learn about applying SFX Makeup to your productions and how best to prepare these set-ups so they are camera-ready.

If you’re a filmmaker working with genre or no budget, this intimate session will give you all the tools you need to get the most out of your on-set experience and make it look like you know what you’re doing.

The session will cover: 

• OH&S regarding Special Effects – blood etc. 
• Blood FX - How to create blood squirts. 
• Cheat Props – Prop Arms / Prop Heads 
• Continuity Hacks 
• Prosthetic Creation & Demonstration 
• Neck puncture, Severed thumb, Gutting effects
