Our festival director never stops droning on about how much he likes crime and action movies. Jean-Claude Van Damme this, "The Professional" that. Anyway, he's managed to get his own way this time by squeezing in this collection...and, well, it is rather good. Drop by for hardboiled cinema that ranges from period pieces to action-packed throwdowns to films that reveal something of a tender side. You've just got to give them their due and admire their 'all in' approach.
